AI and Creative Process Mini-Track at HICSS

Exploring the intersection of artificial intelligence, creativity, and innovation across disciplines.

2026 Accepted Papers

Overview

This collection of papers, accepted to the first HICSS mini-track on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Creative Process, presents a multifaceted exploration of generative AI's integration into creative work. Collectively, these studies move beyond treating AI as a mere tool to examine its role as a co-creator, revealing profound impacts on creative identity, workflow, and industry ethics. The research leverages a range of rigorous methodologies, from large-scale online experiments to longitudinal case studies and indepth qualitative interviews. Key contributions include the development of novel theoretical frameworks that explain the psychological underpinnings of human-AI collaboration, such as the role of psychological ownership and the paradoxical effects of creative self-efficacy.

About the Mini-Track

AI-powered creative tools such as DALL·E, MidJourney, ChatGPT, and AI-driven music composition systems are becoming mainstream. Whether in art, music, writing, game design, or human-AI collaboration, AI is increasingly being used as a co-creator rather than just a tool, opening new avenues of inquiry in cognitive science, design, and human-computer interaction.

Multidisciplinary Platform

This minitrack provides a platform to explore the role of AI in creativity, arts, and innovation across diverse fields including computer science, business, digital humanities, media studies, game design, fashion design, musicology, literature, and the arts.

HICSS Prestige

Since 1968, HICSS has provided a highly interactive working environment for top scholars from academia and industry from over 60 countries. HICSS ranks second in citation ranking among 18 Information Systems conferences.
